Patrick and Sally!

Well, no one could contest the sincerity of these little faces on Patrick and Sally, two miniature Daschund buddies from Walnut Creek, California.  I loved painting these characters!  This is oil on canvas, 12" x 12".

After painting these, I kept looking at the painting and feeling like it was a "family member" of some paintings I'd seen before.   Woke up at 2 a.m. and realized that I was thinking of the Daschunds that David Hockney owned, loved, painted.  I highly recommend this book, chock full of the many many pieces he did of the pups. (The photo below definitely gave me a chuckle - hooray that I'm not alone in painting perhaps way too many dog paintings!)
